Adam's story is quite remarkable: He was turned into rescue as a sorry-looking stray from a bird feeder according to his finder, less than 2 mo. old. An x-ray of his dangling back leg made it immediately apparent that he'd been struck by a car. He was dehydrated, malnourished, and so tiny that a small women's sock with holes cut for the arms served as a sweater (see 1st picture)--almost too big a one at that! Truth be told, he looked back then more like a cute, misplaced little gargoyle or baby gremlin than a cat. His hip joint was broken, and after visiting 4 different vets consulting on the matter, all of them said it was an injury impossible to pin due to the location, that he'd have to have the leg amputated. Each one declared it "best for the pet." His foster mom and a dedicated volunteer decided to try an alternative, figuring if it didn't work, he could always have it amputated later.
